Look up and take brief notes on the term ‘romanticism’ in:
A dictionary or encyclopaedia of visual arts or music.
Compare with the definition of romantic ballet from The Oxford Dictionary of Dance (Craine and Mackrell, 2000)
Choose one composer or visual artist to follow up. Make notes on the dates when he/she was working and one important work of this composer or artist which you consider to display features of romanticism.
Follow up one choreographer active during the period of romanticism in dance (but not Bournonville). Write notes on this choreographer and one of his/her works (not La Sylphide). In what ways can it be termed ‘romantic’ or not?
