This paper will be based upon a murder investigation, where a body has been discovered in a dwelling.  The victim’s former business partner is the suspect throughout this investigation. I will draw upon the main forms of evidence at the crime scenes and reveal the importance of protecting the evidence against contamination.  There will be an analysis of how the evidence should be processed both immediately and once retrieved at the laboratory in order to get the maximum return from any forensic evidence that might be present.  I will later describe the issues and implications when considering the reliability and integrity of the evidence, consequently evaluating whether the evidence retrieved can convict an offender safely and securely.
